Rukom Ulu Pitas community turns out in full force for chapel blessing

page 30 RukomPITAS – It was a day of great rejoicing for the Catholic community of Rukom Ulu Pitas as they came out in full force May 19 to witness the blessing of their new chapel. The blessing of St Pio’s Chapel was solemnized by Archbishop John Wong together with the parish priest of St Theresa Kota Marudu, Fr Frederick Raymond and his assistant Fr Jack Johimi. Also present was former parish priest Fr Edward Raymond.

Corpus Christi signifies eternal covenant with God

page6 1KOTA KINABALU (CS) – Sacred Heart Cathedral celebrated Corpus Christi Jun 6. Archbishop John Wong presided the Mass and concelebrated by Fr Jeffri Gumu and Fr Rhobby Mojolou. It is also called the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ which saw two significant occasion; the commission of the Extraordinary Communion Minister and first-time procession of Corpus Christi around the Cathedral’s compound.

LJCCC organises Pentecost LSS

page 3 LSSKOTA KINABALU – The Light of Jesus Christ Covenant Community (LJCCC) organised a Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) in conjunction with Pentecost on 21-24 May 2015.

The event was held at the Sacred Heart Parish  Centre Karamunsing, attended by over a 100 parishioners.

“Share the baptism of the Holy Spirit with everyone in the Church.  It is not only the charismatics that need the Holy Spirit but that the Church needs the Holy Spirit – every Christian in his or her life requires a heart open to the sanctifying action of the Holy Spirit”.

MYTC trainee: “Montfort shapes my character”

DSC_0066Richard Onsegit:  I am a senior trainee of Batch 15 in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Department. I’m 18 years old and I come from Kg Dalamas, Paitan, Beluran,  is very far from Montfort Youth Training Centre, Kinarut. It takes about ten (10) hours by bus and boat to reach my home. It is a very harsh place to live; we have no clean drinking water during the dry season, and when the place is flooded during rainy season, we do not have food.

CS observes third Catholic Sabah Day

IMG_0564KOTA KINABALU – Catholic Sabah observed its 3rd Catholic Sabah Day in conjunction with the 49th World Communications Day (WCD) May 16. An open forum was organized as a follow up to the Catholic Sabah Readership Survey two years ago. Parishes from the Archdiocese/dioceses were represented.

Before the forum Fr Thomas Madanan showed a short video clip prepared by the Social Communications Commission of Kuching of the Holy Father’s WCD message for 2015, themed “Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter With the Gift of Love.

MYTC holds 15th graduation ceremony

DSC_0128KINARUT – “Through the intervention of Montfort, many have graduated and were able to secure good employment with established companies in Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.”

Words fittingly spoken by Archbishop John Wong, who officiated at the 15th Graduation Ceremony May 16 for 65 Monfort Trainees at its Residential Campus in Kinarut, as he shared the joy and pride with Montfort on the occasion.  He acknowledged that the Montfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) has, since its inception 15 years ago, uplifted and empowered hundreds of youth economically by providing technical skill training and character building through their holistic programmes.
