Seminarian Stanley Mataking ordained deacon in Sandakan
SANDAKAN – Stanley William Mataking, 29, was accepted and ordained a deacon before hundreds who came to witness this joyous occasion at St Mary’s Cathedral on 24 Jun 2015.
“As deacon you are to help the priests and the bishop in the ministry of the word, of the altar and in charity showing yourself to be servant of all. With the help of God, you are to go about all these duties in such a way that you will be recognized as a disciple of Jesus who came not to be served, but to serve. You are a minister of Jesus Christ and you are to serve like the disciples and to do the will of God. Serve the people with love and joy.”

Over 500 gather for 4th Keningau Diocesan Youth Camp
KUALA PENYU – Five hundred and sixty-three youths from the whole Diocese of Keningau gathered at St Peter Bundu, Kuala Penyu for their 4th Diocesan Youth Camp June 2-6. The youth assembled believing that He who is risen has gathered them to journey together in one faith. The camp took the same theme as the World Youth Day’s, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mat 5:8).

Special Mass celebrated for quake victims at Kinabalu Park
Ranau (CS) – It is good if we can participate the solemn celebration for the blessing and protection of all climbers and workers and for the departed souls (according to RC rite and faith).
So reads the backdrop banner, which was pinned on the stage wall at Dewan Kinabalu, Kinabalu National Park, Ranau. It was positioned there for the Special Mass that was celebrated on Saturday afternoon Jun 13 to pray for the departed souls of Joseph Solugin, Valerian Joannes, Ricky Masirin and Robbi Sappinggi, as well as for others who perished in the wake of the earthquake that struck Ranau Jun 5.

1. What aspect of religious life has brought you the most joy?
There are many moments of joy in religious life, but the one that stands out is the day when I was accepted into consecrated life formation, and the moment when I say ‘yes’ to live a consecrated life for the rest of my life in July 16, 2008.
Rukom Ulu Pitas community turns out in full force for chapel blessing
PITAS – It was a day of great rejoicing for the Catholic community of Rukom Ulu Pitas as they came out in full force May 19 to witness the blessing of their new chapel. The blessing of St Pio’s Chapel was solemnized by Archbishop John Wong together with the parish priest of St Theresa Kota Marudu, Fr Frederick Raymond and his assistant Fr Jack Johimi. Also present was former parish priest Fr Edward Raymond.
Corpus Christi signifies eternal covenant with God
KOTA KINABALU (CS) – Sacred Heart Cathedral celebrated Corpus Christi Jun 6. Archbishop John Wong presided the Mass and concelebrated by Fr Jeffri Gumu and Fr Rhobby Mojolou. It is also called the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ which saw two significant occasion; the commission of the Extraordinary Communion Minister and first-time procession of Corpus Christi around the Cathedral’s compound.
