MYTC trainee: “Montfort shapes my character”
Richard Onsegit: I am a senior trainee of Batch 15 in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Department. I’m 18 years old and I come from Kg Dalamas, Paitan, Beluran, is very far from Montfort Youth Training Centre, Kinarut. It takes about ten (10) hours by bus and boat to reach my home. It is a very harsh place to live; we have no clean drinking water during the dry season, and when the place is flooded during rainy season, we do not have food.
Sugud hosts 49th WCD
SUGUD – The Social Communications Commission of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu celebrated the 49th World Communications Day (WCD) at the Church of the Assumption, Sugud, which was hosted by combined youths of St Michael Parish Penampang, Holy Trinity Parish of Inobong and Holy Nativity Parish of Terawi.
CS observes third Catholic Sabah Day
KOTA KINABALU – Catholic Sabah observed its 3rd Catholic Sabah Day in conjunction with the 49th World Communications Day (WCD) May 16. An open forum was organized as a follow up to the Catholic Sabah Readership Survey two years ago. Parishes from the Archdiocese/dioceses were represented.
Before the forum Fr Thomas Madanan showed a short video clip prepared by the Social Communications Commission of Kuching of the Holy Father’s WCD message for 2015, themed “Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter With the Gift of Love.
MYTC holds 15th graduation ceremony
KINARUT – “Through the intervention of Montfort, many have graduated and were able to secure good employment with established companies in Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.”
Words fittingly spoken by Archbishop John Wong, who officiated at the 15th Graduation Ceremony May 16 for 65 Monfort Trainees at its Residential Campus in Kinarut, as he shared the joy and pride with Montfort on the occasion. He acknowledged that the Montfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) has, since its inception 15 years ago, uplifted and empowered hundreds of youth economically by providing technical skill training and character building through their holistic programmes.

Mission schools celebrate La Salle Day
TANJUNG ARU – Some 600 students including teachers and religious brothers from La Salle Secondary school celebrated their La Salle Day with a Mass presided by Fr Rhobby Mojolou at Stella Maris Church May 15. The day was also celebrated in conjunction with the Feastday of St John Baptist de La Salle, their patron saint, and Teachers Day 2015. Principals and teachers from Stella Maris Secondary school and Sacred Heart Primary school also joined in the Mass.
