PENAMPANG – The Catholic Archdiocesan Centre here hosted the second Christmas gathering for archdiocesan and parish staff on 23 Dec 2015.  Initially the idea was just to have the gathering for those working at the archdiocesan centre itself but since Archbishop John Wong is also the parish priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral Karamunsing and the subparish of Church of Mary Immaculate Bukit Padang, he decided that it would be well to have everybody included in this one gathering.  So it was that around 80 people turned up for the gathering, including Abp Emeritus John Lee, Fr Aloysius Tung,  the cathedral assistant priests, and Fr Erik Jerome who is home for the holidays from St Peter’s College Kuching.

In his brief welcoming remarks, Abp Wong hoped that the gathering would bring the staff from the different sectors closer together so that they can get to know each other better and collaborate more effectively for the good of the people.

The gathering consisted of lunch, carol singing,  a game prepared by SHC staff and raffle draws.  Each staff contributed a gift for the draws but there were also sponsored gifts for the premium draws so that all would receive a gift or two.  The event was co-hosted by Neil Mah and Linda Edward.  The event ended with a short closing prayer and blessing from the archbishop.  All were invited to the Archbishop’s Open House at the Sacred Heart Parish Centre KK at 3 pm on Dec 25.  The staff wished each other “a blessed Christmas” before going on their separate ways.
