SHC organises ‘Support Our Website2’ workshop
KOTA KINABALU – The Sacred Heart Cathedral Social Communication Committee (SHC -SOCCOM) organised a second workshop “Support Our Website 2” for various pastoral groups of the cathedral parish on 19 Sept 2015 at the parish centre. The first workshop was conducted in October 2014. Its purpose is to guide the groups on the technical operation of the website so that they could update their pages on the website without much difficulty. The parish website was launched over two years ago.
Archbishop John Wong, who is also the cathedral’s parish priest, noted that after the first workshop, the website has improved and is doing quite well. He said that the website is a source of information and formation and urged every group and committee to play its part by a steady contribution of news about their activities. He expressed the hope that the website may be one way of reaching lapsed Catholics.
Since its launching, the website has attracted around 36,000 visitors, with almost 40 percent coming from mobile traffic. Among the top sites visited are the church bulletin, parish pastoral calendar and directory, and organisational information, with visitors coming from Asian countries, Australia, Russia, Ivory Coast, and the United Kingdom. – Linda Edward
