SH lay leaders honour pastors with fellowship dinner
KOTA KINABALU – Lay leaders of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish honoured their pastors with a fellowship dinner at a local restaurant here on 20 Feb 2017.The
The honorees were Archbishop John Wong (18 years of priesthood), Father Rhobby Mojolou (3 yrs) and Father Mitchelly Kiun (3 yrs).
Almost 400 parishioners from the cathedral and the sub-parish of Church of Mary Immaculate Bukit Padang turned up to celebrate the occasion with their pastors.
In his address, Abp Wong gave thanks to God for his faithfulness towards him. He also acknowledged the role of Archbishop Emeritus John Lee in his vocational journey. He then thanked those present for their prayers for him.
Both Fathers Kiun and Mojolou expressed their gratitude to God and the parishioners for accompanying them in the past three years. Both sang a song after their respective speeches.
Prior to each speech, a slideshow on the honoree’s priestly journey was screened. The respective slideshows for Fathers Kiun and Mojolou ended with a message from their parents.
Before the event concluded, the prelate announced that Father Wilfred Atin will be assisting at St Michael Parish Penampang from March 1 onwards.
The event concluded with a closing prayer-blessing from Abp Wong.
