Franciscan PNH to be demolished to make way for Stella Maris Home extension
TANJUNG ARU – The Pre-Novitiate House (PNH) of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception here will be demolished soon to make way for the extension of the Stella Maris Home for senior and infirm members.
Archbishop John Wong officiated the rite of site blessing on 20 Feb 2017 in the presence of the General Government, demolition contractor, the building committee, and several sisters.
The demolition will begin Mar 1 under Tan Ming Yap of Sri Saujana Sdn Bhd. The construction of the four-storey building will take around 18 months and is scheduled to be completed by June 2018.
The new building will have 40 rooms, one sick bay, and a chapel.
During the construction period, six of the resident seniors will stay at Loreto Convent Dontozidon while the other two will stay at St Joseph Convent Penampang.
