Fr Valentine Celebrates Two Decades of Priesthood

CHERAS – A Franciscan Capuchin friar celebrated 20 years of priestly ministry on 17 May 2023 at the St Francis of Assisi Parish here.  Father Valentine Gompok was ordained on this date in 2003 in Tambunan by Bishop Cornelius Piong. 

Joining him at the altar were Indonesian General Councillor Fr Victorius, Filipino Provinial Fr Edgar Martinez, Fr Paul Cheong, Fr Michael Teng, and other fellow friars. Among the invited guests were the Daughters of St Paul , the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, friends from Singapore and Johor.

In his post-communion speech the celebrant said he offered the Mass for his deceased parents and siblings – the late La Salle Br Herbertus and FSIC Sr Lawrencia.  He thanked God for his vocation and ministry. 

The celebration continued with a fellowship meal at the St John Paul II Hall with the usual cake-cutting ceremony and entertainment including a few numbers by the celebrant.

Currently, Fr Valentine serves as the custos (regional superior) of Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei.
