Kota Belud to host Archdiocesan WCD celebration

PENAMPANG – St Edmund Kota Belud will host the 52nd World Communications Day celebration at archdiocesan level come May 13 (7th Sunday of Easter).

The local main organising committee under Father Florian Marcus and Samuel Joseph met with officials of the Archdiocesan Social Communications Commission (SOCCOM ADKK) to discuss the programme on 24 Mar 2018 at its parish pastoral council room.

About 16 of them, representing the six zones (28 chapels), and other parish groups, attended the meeting.

Father Thomas Madanan, adviser to the commission, briefed them on the traditional aspects of this Vatican Council II-mandated celebration.

During the meeting they elected the ad hoc committee to be headed by Jinuin Victor.

They have also fixed a half-day of reflection on Apr 21 on the theme given by Pope Francis: The Truth will set you free (Jn 8:32).  Fake News and Journalism for Peace with two sessions on news writing and photography.

Aside from the Mass (9 am) to be presided by Archbishop John Wong, there will be an exhibition on parish and archdiocesan materials related to media activities, as well as stage presentations by SOCCOM delegations from the various parishes across the archdiocese.
