SCC and COSA to organise Education Forum in May

KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Council of Churches (SCC) and the Commission for Sabah Affairs (COSA) will  jointly organise an Education Forum on 13 May  2017, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Karamunsing, with the theme “Making a Difference – Taking Our Schools to the Next Level!

The forum hopes to achieve four goals:  1) To identify key issues, challenges and opportunities in our present school system; 2) To propose possible solutions to the key issues, challenges and opportunities identified above; 3) To compile a Forum Resolution which serves as a Blueprint for Way Forward and to raise matters with the State and Federal Governments; and 4) To institute a practical mechanism which ensure effective follow-up action on key decisions made.

Expected participants are the heads of churches under SCC and COSA, namely, the district councils of churches, heads of CFM and Association of Churches Sarawak, heads of Malayan Christian School Council and Sarawak Christian School Council, Arch/diocesan Education Commissions of Kota Kinabalu, Keningau and Sandakan, Anglican Diocesan Education Board, Basel Education Board, Protestant Church of Sabah Education Board, Sidang Injil Borneo Sabah Preschool Committee, Methodist Preschool Committee, Sabah Preschool Committee, heads of 101 Mission Schools in Sabah, chairperson of BOG of Missions Schools in Sabah, Scripture Union, Persatuan Guru Kristian Sabah, Campus Crusade for Christ, Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship, Wawasan Penabur, Montfort Youth Training Centre, educators, teachers, parents, community leaders and church leaders.

Other invitees include the Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia Datuk Mary Yap, Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang, and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Wilfred Tangau. – SCC
