Franciscan Sisters bid final farewell to Sr Diana

The sisters raise their hands as they sing their farewell song to the late Sr Diana Eing, 10 Mar 2017, St Paul Dontozidon.

DONTOZIDON – Over a hundred Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception bade farewell to the late Sister Diana Eing at her funeral Mass on 10 March 2017.

Father Nicholas Stephen presided over the Mass at St Paul Dontozidon.  Concelebrating with him were 11 other priests including Msgr Gilbertus Engan, Father Boniface Kimsin, Father Charles Chiew and Father Benedict Daulis of Keningau Diocese, and Korean priest Father Leo Choi.

Some 1,000 people including many from Kuala Penyu – the deceased had served there in the last six years – turned up for the Mass.

Prior to the Mass, Father Rayner Bisius officiated the reception of the body into the church.

In her address, Superior General Sister Grace Deosing said Sr Diana’s death on March 7 took them by surprise since none of them knew about her sickness.  She read out a prayer written by the deceased asking for grace to accept her sickness.

Sr Grace then thanked everyone for their assistance in one way or another during their bereavement.

After the Mass, the deceased was buried in the Catholic cemetery at Mile 4.5 Jalan Penampang Lama.
