Papar youth carollers perform at KK Christmas Celebration
KOTA KINABALU – St Joseph Papar youth carollers were among the many carolling groups performing at the Kota Kinabalu Christmas Celebration at Padang Merdeka here on 13-16 Dec 2016.
They sang two songs on Dec 13 entitled Silent Night and a local medley song, Intangai Do Tavan and Nohoiran and another two songs on Dec 16 entitled O Holy Night and Joy to the World. Besides the on-stage performances, they also performed street carolling on both days.
The Papar team was composed of nine men, 22 women, one musician led by coordinator Lester Rubintinus.
“Most of them feit nervous performing on stage in front of a large audience but they were excited at the same time,” said Lester.
It took them a month to prepare for this event and they were grateful for the opportunity to proclaim the birth of Jesus in front of many people, who not only came from different races but also different religions.
Lester said that the youth were happy and honoured to be able to perform under the Catholic Church. They felt blessed because God has used their voices to spread the Good News for his glory.
Groups taking part in the event included those from Stella Maris Tanjung Aru, St Theresa Kolopis, Kobusak Choir Group, Inobong youth, and from the Anglican, SIB, BCCM and Christian Fellowships from various local universities. – Lester/CS
