KK prelate marks 6th episcopal anniversary quietly
KOTA KINABALU – Kota Kinabalu prelate marked his sixth episcopal ordination anniversary quietly on 1 Oct 2016, the feast of St Therese of Lisieux.
Archbishop John Wong celebrated Mass with the Carmelite Community at their monastery here Saturday at 6:30 am. Initiation Year Director Fr Rayner Bisius concelebrated with him.
In his homily, the prelate pointed out the way of St Therese as the way for ordinary Christians – to do ordinary things extraordinarily well for the love of God and neigbour. Therese was only 24 when she died.
All present adjourned to the simple breakfast prepared by the Secular Carmelites outside the chapel. They also prepared a cake to commemorate the occasion.
Later, at 10:30 am the prelate was conferred “datukship” by the State Governor in conjunction with the latter’s 63rd birthday at the Istana.
