Cathedral parish children celebrate Christmas together

KOTA KINABALU – Over sixty children of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish here celebrated Christmas together on Holy Family Sunday, 27 Dec 2015 at the parish centre.  This year’s gathering was organised by the faith formation ministry under Catherine Wan and the youth ministry under Aline Lim with the theme Celebrating the Gift of Mercy.  The children’s ages ranged from two to twelve years.

In the programme were  the Christmas story skit, carol singing led by some of the Sacred Heart youth groups, games, and gift-giving.  Parish priest Abp John Wong and his assistant, Fr Rhobby Mojolou, were on hand to spend time with the children.  The two-hour gathering ended with refreshments and gift-giving by Santa Claus to the children.

The annual children’s Christmas party started under the Women’s League in the 1970s and it has continued under the different ministries in the parish down the years.
