Sr Patricia Loo called to eternal rest
TANJUNG ARU – Franciscan Sister Patricia Loo, 80, was called to eternal rest on 3 Sept 2015, at 3:34 PM, after a long battle with a persisting heart problem. She died peacefully at the hospital, after being hospitalized for heart failure. The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (FSIC) gathered, first at the Stella Maris Home Tanjung Aru, then at the funeral Mass at Stella Maris Church Sept 6 to bid her farewell. Archbishop John Wong presided at the Mass, concelebrated with Abp Emeritus John Lee, Msgr Primus Jouil and Fr Erik Jerome. Sr Patricia @ Agnes Loo Shu Yin, who hailed from the Shantung Settlement Dontozidon, was the third child in a brood of four born to Paulus Loo Lai Sing and Maria Liew Phin Kher. Her close acquaintance with Bishop James Buis, Fr Antonesseon, and a Franciscan Sr Elizabeth Shang bore truit. She entered the local Franciscan Order in January 1955 and made her first Profession after two years in the novitiate. After making her Final Profession in December 1962, she was sent to Kent College, Tuaran to be trained as a teacher. She spent 27 years in teaching, six years as a general councillor, and 12 years as the general procurator. Since 1991, she took care of the Holy Family Residence for the senior citizens in Purak.
