Council of Religious holds a Day of Recollection

IMG_1886KOTA KINABALU – The Council of Religious held a Day of Recollection at Montfort Youth Training Centre Kinarut Jan 31, which was attended by 60 religious Brothers and Sisters.

The recollection was presented by Fr Collin Tan, Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus of Malaysia-Singapore Region.

The aim of the recollection was twofold: to prepare them for the celebration of World Day  for Consecrated Life on Feb 2, coinciding with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, as well as to recollect their thoughts, concerns and priorities to attend to  the message of Pope Francis “Be Glad, rejoice and Radiate Joy” so as to effectively live out its theme during the Year of Consecrated Life.

The day’s program consisted of two sessions:

1) My life as a religious:  God’s Gift to me as that I may rejoice and be glad  from which participants were required to reflect further as to a) What is your experience of religious life as a gift? God as giver, and what you have given? You as Receiver and what have you received?  and, b) How can we live more creatively and deeply this life today?

2) My life as a gift to God and to the Church

Further reflection should lead them to think about one Joy that they have experienced recently, and in proclaiming the Good News, how they could  share it more joyfully with others.
